fetching fairytale

I don’t know how many of you guys know this but I am a full-fledged totally self-employed entrepreneur, and I have been for the last two years now. I do this and that: a little art here, a little dance teaching there, a lot of mermaiding, and whatever else tickles my fancy. It’s a little seat-of-the-pants, emotional rollercoaster, rainbow spectrum of experience-ish, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s tricky to find biz-books and education specifically targeted at spiritual, magical peeps like you and I. I am allergic to both business bro-jargon and to fluffiness, so that rules areturn to enchantment lot of stuff out.

My friend (and fellow Mermaid Person) Kris Oster has written and amazing book called Return to Enchantment: Your Guide to Creating a Magical Livelihood. It is the shiz for magically and spiritually minded entrepreneurs. The shiz, my friends.

I have the Kindle copy and it’s so good I’m buying a paperback version so I can read it properly, turn down pages, have it open on my desk and generally abuse it.

Kris is a branding maven and is all about finding meaning and inspiration in your biz through working with archetypal branding, meaning integrating your spiritual vision and higher purpose with your work. So maybe what will really motivate and inspire you would be to approach your business like the Divine Mother, or as a sexy pleasure chasing Aphrodite person, or Scarlett from Gone with the Wind.

When you are a spiritual peep running a business on love and passion, the hardest thing is breaking up with the way the “real world” does things and being brave enough to craft your own path in your own hippy way. Kris gives us so many amazing ideas and exercises in this book to help us combine the visionary and the spiritual with the earthy reality of running a business without burning out. It’s just great. I remember reading it and thinking NO I must do every. little. thing, every exercise, every journal prompt, because this stuff is gold.

And as part of Kris’ Blog Tour, may I present….fetchingfairytalesbanner1Once upon a time there was a land-locked mermaid priestess named Demi.

She lived in an enchanting fairy-tale town and spent her days teaching lovely women to dance, bringing mermaid enchantment to happy families and helping sensitive, spiritual souls connect with the Goddess. She spent her spare hours dancing, swimming, doing yoga and enthusiastically playing ukulele.

Untitled-1But she was afraid. She was so terribly afraid to share all her magical and wonderful gifts with the world. She was terrified that she wasn’t good enough. She knew she was holding back, feeling like since she was in the human world she should act like a human and deny her enchanting wild mermaid nature. She spent so long trying to fit in, trying so hard not to be too weird or too loud or too unusual and to be like the other humans that she was just overcome with sadness and just cried all day long.

Instead of allowing this perilous situation to defeat her, Demi realised that she had to start treasuring and cherishing herself otherwise she would be in this darkness forever. She knew she had to love and accept her true priestess nature, and decided to immerse herself in connecting deeply with the mermaids and living life as a mermaid would – with buckets of self care and kindness and bathtimes (and a hefty does of the F word).

POOF!

Like magic, she was finally able to release her fears and see her true nature as a badass, powerful mermaid who could do whatever she wanted and live her life any way she pleased! Mermaids are freeeeeee!

Inspired by her own transformation, she committed herself to sharing the power of the mermaid archetype with women all over the world and assisting in their own fairy tale transformations.

Her Happily Ever After moment came when she realised that she was free and that human rules didn’t need to apply to her and her mermaid sisters. She spent the rest of her days helping other magical women connect with own their inner mermaids to free themselves from self doubt, fear and boring human lives.

THE END.
