I want to talk to you about a forgotten path to embody the way of the goddess (particularly of the Love Goddess Aphrodite and Venus) that is so easy to overlook in favour of study and hard work.

That forgotten path is the art of living life deliciously.

For a long time I used to think that the Love Goddesses were not that important – that Venus and Aphrodite were only good for sex and romance, and only un-serious girly people cared about those things so it’s best to direct my energy to more worthwhile pursuits.

What I didn’t know back then was not only am I very girly, and not only are sex and romance some of the most important parts of life (for me at least), but also the Love Goddesses are ALL CONSUMINGLY IMPORTANT and that every single priestess has to study with them on their path to embodying the way of the goddess.

Our darlings Venus and Aphrodite, the most famous of the love goddesses, hold something really special – they hold the mysteries of the divine manifest here on earth. They are all about earthly pleasures – good food, good company, good sex – and how all of these things are actually heaven-sent and physical manifestations of the divine.

They teach us how to savour life.

The path of Aphrodite and Venus is the path of falling wildly in love with life and living within a spell of enchantment woven by this very physical world…

… the path of fully being here now.

It’s the path of fully incarnating into this physical experience and receiving it – saying YES WORLD! YOU ARE DELICIOUS! MORE PLEASE!

It is the path of opening our raw and terrified bodies to receive the beauty of life. We are given so much evidence that shows us life is awful – it’s such a revolutionary act to take a stand for the gorgeousness of life, to seek the love, to see the beauty, to amplify the wonderful.

Because it IS wonderful.

Being awake to the beauty of life is the art of the devoted priestess – the ability to hold paradox and contradiction is her super power.

The arts of living life fully are the arts of the priestess.

We have an embodied immanent goddess – she is here, with us, in everything, part of everything… so the logic follows that since she’s everywhere our everyday life should be a dance with divine deliciousness, right?

If life is sacred and holy… shouldn’t we treasure it so?

And when I say treasure, I don’t mean hiding it in the closet like your nicest dress, only to pull out once in a blue moon on the most special of occasions…

… I mean wearing the nice dress every damn day, and savouring and delighting in it until it falls apart at the seams and you get to welcome in a new, different, beautiful dress to enjoy.

It’s weird to think of enjoying life as a priestess skill, but dammit, it really is.

We are here to see and enjoy and be awake for the beauty of life – that’s kind of our job as Priestesses. To be the witness of divinity, to receive the manifest goddess in all her weird and wonderful forms.

And it’s a skill that we are strangely really bad at. How are we collectively so bad at enjoying life? We are all so good at punishing and pushing ourselves, andmuch  less great at celebrating and relaxing and receiving.

This is where the love goddesses come to the rescue!

Our goddesses of love hold this ability in abundance, and they can teach us how to receive, how to relax, how to open, how to enjoy.

They are particularly good at training us in these arts to embody the way of the goddess…

… and that’s why it’s my personal belief that everyone on the Goddess path has to spend a little time with the arts of the love goddesses. We have to understand and live this in our lives, and they are the best ones to teach it.
