This week I feel like spring is just rushing past me – suddenly, the lilac trees are ready to bloom, the sprouting broccoli is seeding, and the trees are beginning to turn green again.

Last night I went for a late-night walk to the muddy fields near where I live – I think they want to build houses there and keep trying to block it off, but intrepid dogwalkers and partying teenagers keep making paths back in. I love it there as you look out on the flat landscape and all you see is sky and stars.

I stood under the sky and felt like I really needed to re-connect to the Goddess – I’m sure just like me you find it so easy to get lost in day to day life that you forget how nourishing your deep earth-universe connection is.

I know as part of my training we are encouraged to make a wand and create circles outside at the tween times (sunset, sunrise) to sit in and pray to her, leave offerings, and other such devotional shenanigans.

So I found a sturdy twig from a nearby tree and crafted a circle in the mud around me – within it I carved a pentagram and symbols to honour my five favourite deities. I gazed at the moon and felt her presence wash over me. Nom nom nom.

In the circle I felt in another world, one where She was everywhere and her presence was amplified. I prayed and asked her advice, and I heard her answers loud and clear (and very practical, as is her way).

It was an incredibly powerful experience! If you have never tried it, I really recommend going outside and making a physical circle to be within as you connect: pop in your back garden with some sting or a long scarf, sit on a circular rug in the park, or sprinkle birdseed around you in a circle and see how it feels!

And if you do try it, let me know your experience!
