I believe the heart of the archetypal priestess is intention.

My ego gets bitchy about that.

From my work with the Priestess Archetype, I know this:

The Priestess is rooted in presence, is the witness of what is, and is the control of her energetic space – her energy is always intentional.

(Note when I say Priestess, I mean archetypal priestess – we are not supposed to be the perfect manifestation of this. It’s like saying Christians can’t be a REAL Christian unless they are a boddhisvata miracle magician like Jesus was – it’s just a silly and not helpful goal.)

The Priestess‘ energy is always intentional. It’s always conscious.

That means that she has purpose and direction around all things. She knows what her intention and focus is, and she aligns herself with that.

Living this has such a big effect on our lives. For me, when I spend a day rocking my Priestess and living intentionally, I am calmer, more able to handle what is, with gentleness and compassion, and more able to be present.

But in the morning when it’s time to choose to live intentionally today, my goblin mind hisses… I don’t wanna

It feels like a big ego death to even choose to live a day with intention.

It feels like a part of me will die if I choose to bring the scattered parts of myself into coherence. I’m over-identified with my chaos, my anxiety and a mile-a-minute creative brain, and my ego lies to me and tells me that living intentionally requires sacrificing the wild and beautiful patchwork quilt of my thoughts and emotions, and replacing it with a “good” bland white emptiness…

… but that’s not true.

Your true intentional self isn’t a homogenous white-light smug vibe that’s totally unlike your day to day personality.

It’s still YOU.

It’s that beautiful patchwork quilt illuminated, one part of it highlighted under fancy art-gallery lighting so you can see it and go ‘mmmm, aaahhh”, and the space around it is cleared of dust and loose threads and crumbs. That’s all.

You don’t have to stop being everything you already are to live intentionally, or to be spiritual.

It is a little ego death to step into living intentionally, even if it’s just for a day. It’s little ending, a little release, and you are gonna feel resistance to doing it, and that’s alright – it’s normal.

By choosing an intention you have to let go of other possibilities, and you can feel resistance and anxiety around that too. I’m with you there – I’m an anxious little thing myself, and this is a big part of the resistance to living intentionally.

But it’s OK. There are no right choices and no wrong choices – there are just choices, and you can always change them tomorrow anyway.

Intention is the heart of embodying the energy of the priestess.

To bring your mind and emotions into resonance with something you choose, something that benefits your spirit and being.

To be conscious about how you are being in the world.

What is your intention for your life and being today?
