May be some of you guys don’t know this, but I am a full-time self employed lady. I run a mermaid biz, I’m a performer, dancer, part-time priestess and art maker. I am the CEO of my life – the Chief Everything Officer. I’m always really excited to find ways to link spirituality and witchiness with my work life, and this month I’m exploring working with moon cycles.

I’m participating in Kris Oster’s 12 Months of  Mermaid Magic, and we go through the year working with a different mermaid goddess and mermaid vibe each month. It’s pretty flippin’ brilliant. You should totally join us. Kris is basically my Hero.

It’s January so we are working with Jana (consort of Janus, who is the official Mr January), a Roman Moon Goddess with close ties to the water. She seems to be linked/interchangable with Diana, and is a goddess who looks forward and backwards. Her devotees were sea priestesses in Naples, Italy. Cool, right?

It’s been kind of a “duh” moment for me, but if you are working with the sea and water deities and goddesses and mermaids, then the moon is super important too because the sea and the moon are so linked and bound together. They move with each other, they dance together, rise and fall together. Working with the sea without the moon is kind of senseless. It’s like inviting Angelina Jolie to your party to raise money for tigers, but not inviting Brad Pitt even though he would TOTALLY come and be there because he likes spending lots of time with Angelina and his presence would completely double or triple press coverage of the needy tigers. It’s common sense.

Moon and sea forever

So this month, I am trying something new. At the start of every month I create a little booklet with my plans and intentions for the month in it business and money wise. It’s pretty freaking great, and really helps me keep track of where I am going, what I am doing and how much money is flowing in and out of my life.

This time I am doing it with the moon. So I am planning out my month, my intentions and my inspirations today with the new moon, and then scheduling the rest of the month to be in sync with what the moon is up to. My hope is that it brings more grace, flow and connection to my working process!

I found this fab graphic to help peeps working with the moon over on the lovely Pink Elephant site. Click the piccie to pop over to the site and download a copy for yourself!
