At Midsummer in Avalon we enter the season of Water.
This is the time of beauty and flow and abundance, when the grail maidens hold forth their cups to share their bounty and when the healing plants are all “take what you need – I have loads to spare!”.
Lazy long days enjoying the warmth of the midsummer sun – lounging in hammocks, laughing with friends, breathing in the scent of the blooming roses.
For me here in England, summer is a water season. It’s when we can leave our homes, kick off our shoes and play!
Water is the gift of the Goddess – she is intuition, magic and beauty. She is the lubrication of everything that makes life good, the blessing of ease and grace, and in Avalon lore, she is the healer at the heart of the sacred springs of our land.
At midsummer in the Morgan le Fay Mystery School we honour Morgan le Fay as Healer. She’s known as a master healer, someone who knows the healing powers and properties of every plant and how to create any healing potion or balm imaginable.
Morgan le Fay is the Queen of Avalon, the land where people come to be refreshed, healed and renewed.
You’ll see her walking the land collecting fresh lemonbalm, motherwort and vervain to dry for her teas and tinctures, filling up her wicker basket with cornflowers and sage blossoms and borage to use in her kitchen.
You’ll find her in her herbalists cottage, surrounded by beautifully bottled potions and lotions, bunches of herbs hanging from the ceiling, and the scent of lavender in the air.
She’ll take your hand and lead you into her healing waters, allowing the rivers to wash away any past pain and hurt. She will hold you in the lushness of summer, where everything blooms and is abundant, and allow love and joy to heal your heart.
She will feed you herbs and healthy foods, soft words and kindnesses, and nourish you beyond health into true wellness, which is more than just not being hurt – it’s a fullness of energy and spirit.
And you will see her watching the moon rise late in the evening as they sky stays a soft indigo till long past ten at night.
